Vaughn journeyed to Japan in 2015 with the Monster Energy crew, to create "BATTLEDRIFT", an epic video starring Vaughn in his 2015 Mustang RTR and Daigo Saito in his Lamborghini, set in a unique location of drift-ready mountain roads and an abandoned village in Niigata, Japan. Also while in Japan, Vaughn achieved a life-long goal of competing in D1 Grand Prix in it's founding country. Vaughn won the 2005 D1GP USA vs. Japan, and also the 2007 D1GP World Championship, both which took place at Irwindale Speedway in southern California. Vaughn drove great all weekend in Tokyo, but was unfortunately taken out of the competition early due to slight contact and a questionable maneuver from his opponent. He also performed demos each day with the rest of the Monster Energy crew, which included drifting side-by-side with Daigo Saito in his Lambo and "dancing" with stunt bike riders performing epic tricks, all while the freestyle moto riders did magic above them in the air.
Vaughn and his team took the Ecoboost-powered 2015 Ford F150 Ultimate Funhaver - an insane truck that jumps AND drifts - to "Hoontown" for the making of this incredible video below. Check out Speedhunters.com for all the behind the scenes photos of the video shoot.

During one of Vaughn's rare weekends "off" in 2015, he decided to try his hand at Trans Am road racing. So he teamed up with Loshak/Stark Racing to pilot the Mike Cope-built TA2-spec 600HP Ford Mustang. He finished in an incredible 5th place out of 29 TA2 cars, and nearly 70 racecars in total, all while in the rain. By racing his way to a top-5 finish, he earned the distinction of improving the most positions during the intense, weather-challenged Next Dimension 100 at Road America. In the process, he also earned the respect of the Trans Am paddock while attracting the attention of everyone in attendance with an ultra-unique-looking racecar that mimicked the livery of his Formula Drift Ford Mustang RTR. Watch this video of how he attacked the course.
Vaughn traveled all over in 2015 performing drifting exhibitions, giving ride-alongs, and meeting all of his awesome supporters.
